Drill Block Neckpiece
- Found Timber, Steel, Sterling Silver

The drill block is perhaps the sibling of the bench peg. A sacrificial piece of timber placed under a drill press, used either to lift work higher or to make sure the drill bit passes completely through the work, and doesn’t destroy the bench beneath it.
The block is eaten away bit by bit and slowly becomes a maze of horizontal holes, reminiscent of an insects home (or their lunch). This block, taken from the RMIT studios, records the making of an unknown amount of students, over an unknown amount of time. Through its transformation into jewellery this time becomes highlighted, and asks us to acknowledge the history - of the people, the processes, place, and matter, that accompanies its material being.
